As Mintzberg believe, the elements of organizational structuring—which show a curious tendency to appear in five's—suggest a typology of five basic configurations: Simple Structure, Machine Bureaucracy, Professional Bureaucracy, Divisionalized Form, and Adhocracy.

Machine Bureaucracy
It is a management structure with a high degree of formalization and specialization.
Basic Features:

Decisions are made by the top level and carried out at the lower levels
Advantages:

Specialization: Everyone knows what they have to do.

Clear Structure: It sets the pace and frame working for the functioning of the corporation.

Stability: As everyone knows their job, the organization has stability.
Disadvantages:

Goal Displacement: Rules regarding goals at each level become end-to-themselves that displace the original goal

Impersonality: Individuals’ needs and emotions are placed under procedures and compliance

Adhocracy
Also called Amoeb. It is a structure that a group of people with same goals are divided into different groups, which can improve the efficiency.

Divisionalized Form
It is a Multidivisional structure, which has a strong leadership with several competitive and independent departments.
Advantages:

Professional Organization
Professional organization is usually a nonprofit organization seeking to a particular profession, the interests of individuals engaged in that profession.
Features:
It is like a hierarchy with autonomy, where employees like professors are allowed some freedom for professional job.
